“And now do not be distressed or angry with yourselves because you sold me here, for God sent me before you to preserve life.”
- Genesis 45:5 -
This Monday (6/27) marks the beginning of our first in-person VBS in 3 years. This year’s theme is titled, “Monumental,” focusing on God’s greatness through the story of Joseph in the book of Genesis. In the 3 years since our last VBS, there have been many moments where things have not made any sense. Where it seemed as though God had forgotten about us. And I’m sure for your children, there were many confusing and challenging seasons as well. Similarly, Joseph experienced many troubling circumstances that could’ve made him give up on trusting the Lord. And yet, as he was finally face-to-face again with his brothers who had once betrayed him, Joseph realized that God had used every moment of his life to save many others and bring hope that once seemed impossible.
When we face difficult times, it’s easy to miss all that God is doing. But as we approach this upcoming VBS, my prayer is that this would be one of those moments that would cause God’s greatness and faithfulness to shine in the hearts of the students, the volunteers, and every family who will attend. Although there have been painful, confusing, and discouraging times, I trust that God has used and will continue to use each moment to bring about His good purposes, and I believe He can use this upcoming week for the same thing.
I am excited (and a little nervous) to get started! Please be praying along with us for this week! Here are a few specific prayer request you can pray for with us:
- Pray that God would work powerfully in the hearts of each student to witness God’s greatness and love.
- Pray for wisdom, strength, and courage over each volunteer as they serve the students.
- Pray that God would use each moment from this VBS to bless, strengthen, and enrich the lives of the families that will be sending their children.
I cannot wait to see all the ways our God can powerfully this week. Thank you for praying with us as we get started with VBS!
Blessings,
