PASTOR
YOUNA Jung
Youna Jung was born in Seoul, Korea and was raised there until she and her family immigrated to the United States when she was seven years old. She has lived in Maryland ever since.
Youna graduated from the University of Maryland Baltimore County with BA in Modern Languages and Linguistics and Certification in Early Childhood Education. Upon graduation, she served as a short-term missionary in East Asia for a year and a half and worked with college students and taught English. Before beginning ministry, she worked as a high school ESOL teacher in Montgomery County for five years and obtained her MA in TESOL from the University of Maryland College Park. She is currently working on her MA in Biblical Studies at Moody Theological Seminary.
As the CM Pastor, Youna aims to create a strong partnership with families in raising and training the next generation of worshippers. She holds fast to the Church of Philippi CM goal of “helping parents transform their children into disciples” to keep the Lord’s commandments regarding raising up the next generation. She believes that equipping the next generation with the Word of God is one of the most crucial responsibilities that the current generation is called to carry out.
You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. —DEUTERONOMY 6:7 (ESV)
